What is the food like?

We have a chef that cooks breakfast, lunch and dinner. He is conscious of the relationship between nutrition and sobriety.

Slip Ups

What if I drink/use while I am in the program at the Beacon House?

The Beacon House is totally committed to sobriety so you will be asked to leave for a 24-72 hour period. It is possible to be readmitted depending on your attitude and level of commitment.

Lock Down Facility

Is Beacon House a lock down facility?

No. After an initial period of restriction (usually two days), residents are encouraged to go on walks with each other and venture out into the community with the idea that they will probably experience triggers. Then they can come back to the house and process their feelings with the group and with counselors.

Counseling Services

I am looking for a good therapist in the Monterey area. Preferably someone who specializes in substance abuse related matters. Any suggestions?

What is Beacon House's success rate?

At Beacon House we have learned that there is no real way to gauge the success rate for alcoholics or addicts. We follow-up with Beacon House graduates but often times people move - either because their lives are improving due to sobriety or in disarray due to continued abuse. In either case they very rarely notify us of an address change. It is unfortunate too that we must take into consideration that people lie when they are in their disease. So for every ten people who report success, we can assume that one or two are not being honest about it. The time factor is also an issue. A person can leave Beacon House and enjoy 14 years of successful sobriety but then relapse. It is important to remember that there is no cure for substance abuse, only treatment and we at the Beacon House offer the best in treatment options.

Men's Meeting in Monterey/Salinas

Hi. As per the gentleman looking for a good men's meeting in the Monterey/Salinas area. (And I am just assuming it was a gentleman!)I can highly recommend the Friday Stag at St, Mary's church, in Edward Hall, 12th and Central in Pacific Grove. It is a solid meeting with some serious sobriety, many men with many years, who focus on living in the solution. Maybe I'll see you there. David B.

Beacon House Aftercare Meetings in Fresno

Beacon House has just started a great new Aftercare meeting in Fresno on Thursday nights at 6:30pm. The meetings are held at Hope Lutheran Church, Classroom 26. Hope Lutheran is located at 364 E. Barstow in Fresno. If you are a graduate of the Beacon House, we encourage you to come.

Holiday Cheer
